Everest Group has appointed Michael Cellura as head of its global facultative and hybrid reinsurance business and Trevor Gallagher as chief operating officer of the unit, as the Bermuda-based insurer reshapes leadership within its wholesale and specialty platform, the company announced in a news release.
Cellura, who joined Everest in 2022, will oversee the group’s global facultative and hybrid reinsurance operations, including underwriting strategy, portfolio management and regional coordination. He will report to Jason Keen, executive vice president and chief executive of global wholesale and specialty insurance.
Gallagher has been appointed chief operating officer for facultative and hybrid reinsurance, a newly created role reporting to Cellura. He joined Everest in 2023 and will be responsible for operational execution and platform optimisation as the business expands.
Everest said the moves were intended to strengthen its global wholesale and specialty insurance platform.
“Michael and Trevor are highly respected leaders whose experience and strategic focus reflect the strength of Everest’s leadership bench,” Keen said of the appointments. “Facultative and hybrid reinsurance is central to our strategy, enabling us to provide flexible underwriting and differentiated solutions for complex risks.”
The announcements follow the appointment of two other senior leaders within its global wholesale and specialty insurance division in December: Paul Trueman as head of international for GWS and Mark Shaw as global head of commercial for GWS
