Fwd announces new additions to board of directors

FWD Group Holdings (FWD Group) has appointed three new members to its board of directors: Andrew Weir, Dominic Leung Ka Kui, and Laura Deal-Lacey. The appointments are effective immediately.

Weir joins from KPMG, where he most recently served as Global Chair of Asset Management. With a 37-year career advising boards and audit committees of listed companies and financial institutions across the UK, Asia, and the Middle East—including the Hong Kong Stock Exchange—he brings extensive professional services and governance expertise to the board.

Leung previously served as General Manager of Taiwan Nanshan Life Insurance Company. With over 40 years of executive and non-executive experience in the Asian insurance industry, he has held senior positions at firms across the region, including Ping An Group and Prudential.

Deal-Lacey has been a board member of FWD Singapore since 2016 and currently serves as its chairperson. She is also Executive Vice President at the USA-based Milken Institute. With extensive experience across Asia, North America, and Europe, she brings strong international business expertise to the board.

With these appointments, the board now comprises 13 directors, including two executive directors, two non-executive directors, and nine independent non-executive directors.

Frederick Ma, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Board of FWD Group, welcomed the new members, stating: “The Board is increasingly diverse with deep business experience in Asia, which is critical to realising the company’s vision of changing the way people feel about insurance.”

Along with the appointments, the company also announced the retirement of Richard Sun Po Yuen from the board.

“I would also like to thank Richard Sun for his many valuable contributions to the Board during his tenure since his appointment in October 2022,” Ma said.
