Liberty Insurance has appointed Cynthia Sze as chief executive officer of its combined Hong Kong unit, effective May 2026, subject to regulatory approval, the company announced in a media release on Monday.
Sze joins after more than 15 years at AIG, where she held several roles, most recently as general manager for Hong Kong and Macau. She brings 25 years of industry experience across Hong Kong and North Asia, including time at RSA, now Intact Insurance, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Based in Hong Kong, she will report to Matthew Jackson, president, Liberty International Insurance, Asia Pacific. She will lead Liberty’s unified Hong Kong business, Liberty International Insurance Limited under the Liberty brand, following the integration of the company’s operations under a single licence, proposed to be effective on 1 April 2026.,
The unification, announced in late January, brings together Liberty’s personal, commercial, and specialty insurance capabilities in the market, creating a stronger, more integrated platform to serve agents, brokers, clients, and partners across Hong Kong, and as part of its One APAC Transformation, first announced in April 2024.
“2026 is a defining year for Liberty in Hong Kong and across Asia Pacific,” said Jackson. “Operating as one Liberty in-market enables us to deliver greater clarity, consistency and capability to our customers and distribution partners,” Jackson said. “Cynthia’s leadership experience and deep market expertise position us well for the next phase of growth.”
The integration will also see Eddie Young, vice president and chief executive of Liberty Specialty Markets, and Cynthia Leung, finance leader of Liberty Insurance, leaving the company at the end of July, following completion of the unification.
“Eddie and Cynthia have provided dedicated leadership and stability during a significant period of change for our Hong Kong operations,” Jackson said. “Their contributions have been instrumental in positioning the business for successful integration and future growth. We thank them for their commitment and wish them continued success in their next chapters.”
