Sompo Hong Kong has designated Will Wang as head of casualty for Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, effective 29 December 2025, according to the company’s LinkedIn post on Monday.

Wang joins from Starr Insurance, where he most recently served as head of casualty. He is based in Hong Kong and reports to Alasdair Walker, Sompo Hong Kong CEO, with a matrix reporting into MJ Tan, head of casualty for Asia-Pacific.

In his new role, Wang is responsible for leading the casualty underwriting team to grow a profitable general liability and employees’ compensation portfolio for Sompo Hong Kong through new business development and renewal retention, while supporting the APAC region in driving scale and sustainable growth.

He brings over 15 years of experience in casualty lines across the Greater China region with stints at International SOS, AIG, and China Continent Property & Casualty Insurance Company Ltd.

“Will has a proven track record of developing casualty products and enhancing market competitiveness and profitability. His expertise in underwriting for complex accounts, strong broker relationships, and market knowledge will be a valuable asset to us,” Sompo Hong Kong said in its post.

Wang’s move comes after the appointment of Ophelia Szeto as head of property and construction and Jessica Lai as head of mid-corp & SME in line with the Sompo Hong Kong’s announcement earlier this month that it would implement a new strategic underwriting leadership structure effective January 1, 2026.
