Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) announced on Tuesday (9 July) it has undertaken several initiatives, led by CEO Katrina Shanks, to expand learning and development opportunities and strengthen stakeholder relationships in Southeast Asia.

ANZIIF said in a media release that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and an Accredited Training Provider (ATP) Agreement with Andalas University in Indonesia. This partnership aims to provide opportunities for students and insurance professionals in the West Sumatra Region to develop their careers through ANZIIF.

In Thailand, ANZIIF collaborated with the Thai Insurance Brokers Association to sign an ATP Agreement enabling brokers in Thailand to complete ANZIIF’s Executive Certificate in General Insurance Broking and become ANZIIF Senior Associate CIP Members.

In addition, the Institute signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement with the Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII). This agreement recognises professional membership in Malaysia, with the goal of enhancing professional standards and expanding career opportunities within the country’s insurance sector.

Shanks has also led three seminars on ANZIIF’s new Empathetic Claims Management short course in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok, which attracted over 4,500 attendees. The course is designed to equip claims agents and managers with skills to provide claimants with empathetic and trauma-informed customer services.

Additionally, ANZIIF announced that it has developed a series of free, weekly webinars to deliver professional development content to insurance professionals internationally.

“These initiatives are part of ANZIIF’s efforts to support and promote the insurance industry in Southeast Asia,” the Institute said.
