Aon has named industry veteran Shinji Kuriyama as Enterprise Client Leader for Asia Pacific in Japan, the global brokerage firm announced on Monday, 29 September.

Kuriyama, with over 30 years’ experience, most recently served nearly five years as Managing Director and Head of Corporate Coverage at BNP Paribas in Tokyo. He also held positions at Wells Fargo and Citigroup in Japan and the U.S.

For Aon, he will lead global relationships with Japanese clients and deliver integrated Risk and Human Capital solutions. Kuriyama will report directly to Craig Torgius, Chief Client Officer and Head of Enterprise Clients for APAC, and work closely with Tatsuya Yamamoto, Aon Japan’s Chief Executive, the company said in its media release.

Speaking about the appointment, Torgius highlighted Kuriyama’s financial acumen and cross-border leadership. “His extensive experience in corporate and investment banking, combined with his ability to lead high-performing teams and navigate complex regulatory environments, makes him uniquely positioned to drive strategic outcomes in Japan,” he said.

Kuriyama echoed this and stated that he is looking forward to helping Aon’s clients “navigate complexity and drive meaningful outcomes through better decision-making.”

“Working in close collaboration with global and local teams across Aon, I am committed to helping Japanese enterprises to strengthen resilience, capitalise growth opportunities and [manage] uncertainty with data-driven insights and integrated solutions,” the veteran added.

Before Kuriyama, Aon Japan welcomed Milla Chen as Deputy Director within its Mergers and Acquisitions and Transactions Solutions team last week, on 18 September.
