Gallagher Re has announced the appointment of Jia Lou as CEO of Mainland China & Hong Kong, effective June 1st. The reinsurer also announced that Alex Xia will also join as Head of Gallagher Re in Beijing, effective from 1 June.

Lou will report to Mark Morler, Gallagher Re’s Head of Asia Pacific, and be responsible for strategic planning and execution within the Mainland China and Hong Kong markets.

He has more than 15 years of experience in the Mainland and Hong Kong markets to the role, having worked at Guy Carpenter in senior positions, including as Head of China South Region and Senior Vice president.

On the appointment, Lou said: “With such strong prospects for growth, I’m looking forward to bringing to bear the full power of Gallagher Re’s global capabilities and connectivity for the benefits of our clients, and building out our teams across the region.”
