Howden Re has named Henry To as chairman of Howden Re Hong Kong, effective 1 April, the reinsurance broker announced on LinkedIn on Wednesday.

To has more than 40 years of reinsurance experience in Hong Kong and China, with a background in covering treaty and facultative placements in property and casualty, marine, accident and health, and agriculture.

“Henry is one of the most experienced and well-regarded figures in the APAC reinsurance market,” Andy Souter, head of Asia-Pacific at Howden Re International, said. “We are very pleased to welcome him to Howden Re and look forward to the contribution he will make to our clients and our team across the region.”

Massimo Reina, CEO of Howden Re International, said the business’s continued investment reflects Hong Kong’s importance as a gateway to Greater China and the wider APAC market.

“Henry’s experience and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen Howden Re’s presence and deliver greater value to our clients across the region,” Reina added.

To’s appointment comes amid Howden Re’s recent appointments in the region this year, including Eva Li as GM for facultative reinsurance, China and Renuka Janwalkar as head of APAC cat analytics.
