Previous journalists and contributors
Former journalists and contributors remain credited on the articles they produced. Their author archives are retained as part of the publication’s record, but they are not presented as members of the current editorial team.
The “Editorial team” byline
The collective byline is used for work produced or substantially assembled by the newsdesk, contributed or partner material that requires a house byline, and occasional items involving several staff members where an individual byline would be misleading.
It should not hide who is accountable. Independently reported work is given a named byline wherever possible, while partner or supplied material also carries an appropriate content label and disclosure.
