Tell us what needs attention
If you believe an article contains a factual error, lacks necessary context, misattributes a statement, or falls short of our Editorial Standards, email [email protected].
- The article headline and URL.
- The passage or claim you believe is wrong.
- A concise explanation of the issue.
- Documents, links, or other evidence that support the correction.
- Your name and any relevant relationship to the subject.

What happens next
We acknowledge a substantive complaint as soon as reasonably practical. An editor reviews the published work, the material supplied by the complainant, the reporter’s notes where relevant, and the best available primary sources. We may contact you for clarification and may invite the reporter or subject of the story to respond.
Urgent factual matters, especially errors that may cause material harm, are prioritised. More complex complaints may take longer because verification, translation, or specialist advice is required. We will explain the outcome when the review is complete.
How we correct errors
When a material factual error is confirmed, we correct the article and add a clear note explaining what was wrong and what changed. The note is attached to the article so readers encounter the correction in context. We do not silently remove a material mistake.
Where an error appears in a headline, newsletter, or social post, we correct that version where the platform allows and take proportionate steps to prevent the inaccurate claim continuing to circulate.
Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, and style changes that do not alter meaning may be made without a note.
Corrections, clarifications, and updates
- Correction: fixes information that was materially wrong when published.
- Clarification: adds wording or context where the original was accurate but could reasonably be misunderstood.
- Update: adds relevant information that emerged after publication. A significant update is labelled and dated.
- Editor’s note: explains an important editorial decision, investigation, or unresolved issue.
We preserve the original publication date and use an updated date when a material change is made.
Editorial complaints and review
A complaint about fairness, privacy, conflicts of interest, labelling, or another standards issue should explain which commitment you believe was breached and why. The review is handled by an editor not directly responsible for the disputed decision where that is practicable.
If you disagree with the outcome, reply within 14 days and state the specific evidence or standard you believe was overlooked. A senior representative of Playfair Media Limited will conduct a final internal review.
What this process cannot do
We do not remove accurate reporting merely because it is inconvenient, unflattering, or has become less prominent over time. Requests to alter or remove lawful archived material are assessed against the public interest, fairness, privacy, safety, and the integrity of the historical record.
This process does not prevent anyone from exercising a legal right. Legal notices should be clearly identified and sent through the contact details on our Contact page.
