Insurance Australia Group (IAG) has appointed Amanda Whiting to the newly created role of group executive, enterprise growth and simplification, as it expands its group leadership team, the company announced on Monday.

Whiting has been with IAG since 2008 and has led IAG New Zealand for the past four and a half years. In December, the insurer announced that Phillip Gibson would take over her role as chief executive officer, effective 2 March 2026, following Whiting’s decision last year to return to Australia.

She brings more than 20 years of insurance industry experience in both general and health insurance, and has held senior roles, including as executive director of the National Transport Insurance and president of the Insurance Council of New Zealand.

Her enterprise-level role will focus on growth and simplification at a time when the insurer is helping more customers prepare for and recover from adversity across Australia and New Zealand, according to IAG managing director and chief executive officer Nick Hawkins.

“Amanda has a deep understanding of market dynamics, customer needs and preferences, and how to deliver distinct and differentiated strategies for retention and growth,” Hawkins said. “This new role will leverage her track record in driving growth and delivering results, both in her time leading our New Zealand business and before that in various leadership roles in Australia.”
