AXA XL has promoted Jamie Chambers to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Greater China, effective 20 June 2025, the (re)insurer announced on LinkedIn on Thursday.
The appointment follows the planned retirement of Dr. HaoMing Zhou, who was AXA XL’s Country Manager for China and had been with the firm since June 2022.
Chambers, who is currently CEO for AXA XL Hong Kong, will continue to lead the Hong Kong business and take on broader leadership duties across Mainland China, Macau, and Taiwan.
In its announcement, AXA XL emphasised the strategic importance of the move, stating: “Jamie’s appointment reflects our commitment to unified leadership and stronger alignment across Greater China, enabling us to operate more seamlessly across markets and deliver consistent value to clients and partners throughout the region.”
The company also acknowledged Zhou’s contributions, noting: “HaoMing’s visionary leadership has established a robust platform for future success. We extend our deepest gratitude and wish him every happiness in retirement.”
Chambers’ appointment comes amid a series of key changes for AXA XL in APAC, including most recently the promotion of Tavpraneet Singh to Chief Underwriting Officer for International Financial Lines, APAC & Europe and a series of strategic hires in India to strengthen its market presence in the country.
