Michael Szwajda has returned to Zurich Insurance to become its Singapore-based Broker Relationship and Business Development Lead, the business announced on Wednesday, 23 July.
From 2011 to 2013, Szwajda was a Global Associate Programme and Project Manager at Zurich Insurance, operating out of its Switzerland headquarters.
In his new role, Szwajda is tasked with strengthening relationships with brokers and customers, while also driving growth for Zurich’s commercial insurance portfolio, including Zurich Resilience Solutions throughout the region.
Szwajda joins from Swiss Re, where he spent nearly a decade in corporate and market development roles across Europe and Asia Pacific. He served most recently as the firm’s Industry and Practice Lead for Professional and Financial Services based in Singapore.
Commenting on the appointment, Liam Burrell, Zurich Singapore CEO and Head of Commercial Insurance for Asia, highlighted Szwajda’s suitability for the role given his strategic focus and action-oriented approach.
“With his broad international experience and proven track record in building strong partnerships, [Szwajda] will further strengthen our relationships and bring the best of Zurich to our broker partners and customers.”
Last week, Zurich Singapore appointed Nicole Tan as a Casualty Underwriter. In May, the business announced Theo Pitsikas’s relocation to Singapore as Head of SME Asia Pacific.
