Life and health reinsurer Pacific Life Re has announced the appointment of Mikey Anthony as its new Assistant Vice President of Sustainability. The position is a newly established one, which Pacific Life Re said reflects the company’s commitment to eco-friendly initiatives.
In the role, Anthony is tasked with developing a comprehensive ESG strategy to meet key targets and ensure Pacific Life Re remains in compliance with environmental regulations in all its areas of operation globally. He will work closely with the reinsurer’s parent company, Pacific Life, engaging with the business’s corporate social responsibility task force and the Pacific Life Foundation.
Anthony is an industry veteran with rich experience in quality assurance, legal, and compliance and has operated in several countries, including the Middle East, America, and Australia. He joined Pacific Life Re in 2021, serving as Legal Counsel and Company Secretary for Pacific Life Re and UnderwriteMe Australia.
On the appointment, Vincent Lepez — Executive Vice President, Europe and Head of Pacific Life Re’s ESG task force — said, “It was critical we appointed someone who understood our business and had the skills and experience to be able work collaboratively across different territories. Mikey’s legal background will be particularly helpful regarding implementing climate regulation. We’re looking forward to the positive impact he’ll undoubtedly bring to our ESG initiatives.”
On his new role, Anthony said, “I’m a passionate advocate of sustainability and am delighted to have this opportunity to help drive forward the great work Pacific Life Re is already undertaking in this area. Working with the Pacific Life Foundation will also enable us to further expand our philanthropy programme.”
