Munich Re has appointed Hanh Nguyen as Head of Treaty Property and Casualty (P&C) Underwriting for South-East Asia and India, effective 1 March, the global reinsurer announced in a statement on Monday. She succeeds Joachim Zagrosek, who has moved to Munich to take up the role of Head of Property and Casualty Treaty Underwriting for Germany.
Nguyen has 19 years of reinsurance experience across multiple markets in Asia. She first joined Munich Re as Regional Property Treaty Manager in the South-East Asian and Japan Regional Underwriting team and since July 2024 has served as Deputy Head of Treaty P&C Underwriting for South-East Asia and India.
Speaking on her new appointment, Nguyen said it is a “great privilege” to take on the responsibility for the global reinsurer’s Treaty P&C underwriting in South-East Asia and India.
She also emphasized the importance of strengthening risk resilience in the region, noting that events like Hurricane Yagi underscore the need for greater insurance penetration. “We strive to increase insurance penetration in the region by fostering risk mitigation measures, working with governments and international institutions and by bringing innovative solutions to the markets,” Nguyen said.
