Guy Carpenter has appointed Phil Xue as managing director and chief operating officer for Mainland China and Hong Kong, effective 1 August 2026, the reinsurance broker announced in a statement on Friday.
He rejoins the reinsurance broker, having spent over a decade at Guy Carpenter across China and Hong Kong between 2007 and 2018, including as head of the broker’s Shanghai branch.
In January 2018, he joined AXA XL as chief executive and country manager for China, going on to lead the same onshore reinsurance entity after AXA Insurance, the parent of AXA’s Greater China business, acquired it outright in April 2024 and renamed it AXA International Re that October.
“Phil brings more than 20 years of experience across insurance and reinsurance, with an extensive record of leadership and executive achievement,” Guy Carpenter said.
