Helia Group has appointed Mark Senkevics as chief executive officer and managing director, effective “on or before” 1 December, according to an exchange announcement on Wednesday.

Senkevics joins from Steadfast Group, where he most recently served as CEO of writing agencies. He brings over three decades of industry experience to his new role.

Before moving to Steadfast, he spent over 20 years with Swiss Re, holding leadership positions across the reinsurer’s operations in Australia, Taiwan, and Korea. He also worked at SCOR and Gerling Global Re earlier in his career.

Senkevics will succeed interim CEO Michael Cant, whose 12-month contract will be extended to allow for a transition and handover.

Commenting on the appointment, Senkevics said: “I’m excited to be joining Helia at a pivotal time for the Australian home ownership and lending landscape … I look forward to working with the talented Helia team, its customers and partners.”
