QBE Asia has appointed Chai Guan Lim as head of distribution for Malaysia, the company announced on LinkedIn on Wednesday.
Lim moves to QBE after spending over seven years at Zurich Insurance in Malaysia, where he most recently served as chief agency officer.
He brings over 26 years of industry experience, with 14 years spent “shaping distribution strategy and agency leadership.” Earlier in his career, Lim worked at firms including Allianz, MCIS Zurich, and AIA.
“He is well regarded for building high-performance teams, developing talent, and strengthening intermediary partnerships,” QBE further stated in its announcement.
The appointment comes with QBE recently announcing a key move in the region to take full ownership of India’s Raheja QBE through a 3.24bn-rupee (about US$35.4m) buyout of Prism Johnson’s 51% stake, subject to approvals. The group also posted strong results in 2025, reporting 7% GWP growth in FY25 to US$23.96bn and a combined operating ratio of 91.9%.
Other key personnel changes by QBE this year also include Carles Tondo as head of property for Asia and Sven Liu as head of Greater China for QBE Re.
