Gallagher Re on Thursday (23 May) announced that George Sherriff will become CEO of its Japan business on 1 July, with current CEO Tsuyoshi “Travis” Noguchi to be appointed as Chairman on the same date.
Sherriff has been with Gallagher Re for 13 years and is currently leading the Global Client proposition across Asia Pacific, from Singapore. The global reinsurance broker said in its announcement that Sherriff has played a key role in shaping the strategic direction of Gallagher Re’s Japanese business and will continue to oversee the Global Client proposition while transitioning into his new role.
Mark Morley, Head of Asia Pacific at Gallagher Re, commented on the key appointment: “George’s expertise and experience in the region makes him the ideal candidate for this role. His contributions to the strategic direction of our Japanese business have been invaluable, and we are excited to see him take on this new leadership position.”
Noguchi, the current CEO, has led the Tokyo and Japan business for the past ten years and will transition into the role of Chairman from July.

I’d like to thank Travis for his significant contributions and leadership in shaping and scaling our Japanese operation to what it is today.”
