Julia Ju has been promoted as the new Chief Executive and Area Manager for The Swedish Club in Hong Kong, the global marine insurer announced 7 July (Monday).
Ju, who currently serves as Head of Claims, will assume the role effective 1 October.
She brings over two decades of experience in marine claims handling. Before joining The Swedish Club in 2009, Ju also worked at China P&I as a Claims Executive.
Her appointment follows the departure of Lars Malm, who will lead the Italian insurance broking firm Cambiaso Risso’s new office in Hong Kong. Malm has held various roles at The Swedish Club for over 25 years, relocating to Hong Kong in 2023 to serve as Managing Director and later Chief Executive.
Commenting on Ju’s elevation, The Swedish Club’s Managing Director Thomas Nordberg praised her exceptional leadership in marine insurance.
Nordberg added: “Her international background, legal acumen, and decades of experience in P&I claims handling uniquely position her for this role. Julia combines strategic vision with an unwavering commitment to our members, and we have full confidence in her ability to take the Hong Kong office into the future.”
Speaking about Lars, Nordberg lauded his professionalism, dedication and vision that have “helped shape the Club” in the Asia Pacific.
“While we are sorry to see him go, we are proud to see one of our own take on such an exciting opportunity. We extend our deepest gratitude to Lars for his tremendous service and wish him every success in his new role with Cambiaso Risso,” he said.
In addition to Ju, Jason Wu has also been appointed as Regional Director for Underwriting in Greater China. He will report directly to the Director of Underwriting at The Swedish Club’s Head Office in Sweden.
