Andrew Brooks, Country President of Chubb in New Zealand, has announced his departure from the company, effective 29 Feb, after close to a decade with the insurer.
On a LinkedIn post, Brooks said, “After 9 and a quarter years with Chubb here in New Zealand tomorrow will be my last day.” Adding, “Befitting for me, it is also a Leap Day being the 29th February.”
Brooks transitioned from a background in broking to lead the insurer’s New Zealand operations. In his comment, Brooks reflected on his time with the NZ business, speaking on the significant knowledge he gained, the lifelong friendships he has formed, as well as some of the achievements the business realised during his tenure. “It hasn’t all been plain sailing but then neither is life in general.”
“Leaving it in a better place than it was when I started – which includes a positive and growth minded culture and seeing the next generation thrive – were really important to me,” he added.
Brooks also revealed his next career move.
“After the last couple of months of gardening leave, I’m dipping my toes back in the market and accepted a 6-month contract role at Insurance Advisernet as National Manager Partnerships & Development starting 4th March,” while expressing enthusiasm about returning to the broking side of the industry and working with Travis Atkinson and the Insurance Advisernet New Zealand (IANZ) team.
Brooks’s previous roles in the industry include time at Aon, Marsh, WTW, and Ace Group — prior to its acquisition of Chubb.
