AXA XL has announced the appointment of Julie Morgan as Head of Claims for Australia, effective from 27 May 2024.

Morgan moves from Zurich Insurance and bring over 20 years of industry experience to the global (re)insurer. In her new role, she will have oversight of all claims activity across all lines of business for Australia, AXA XL said in an announcement.

Morgan succeeds Julijana Sumner, who was promoted to Chief Claims Officer for APAC & Europe late in 2023 after over a decade leading Claims in Australia. On Morgan’s appointment, Sumner said, “Our market-leading Australia Claims team will go from strength to strength under Julie’s leadership.”

Morgan had been with Zurich Insurance for over six years, most recently as Head of Technical and Complex Claims, ANZ and prior she gained significant at Chubb where she worked for over a decade. She also studied Law at the Legal Practitioners Admissions Board and the University of Sydney.

Catherine Carlyon, Country Leader for Australia at AXA XL, commented on the appointment, stating, “Julie brings both a depth of experience and a fresh perspective to AXA XL.”
