Cambiaso Risso has tapped marine insurance veteran Lars Malm to lead a new Hong Kong office as part of its broader strategy to expand across Asia Pacific.
Based in Hong Kong, Malm, who spent over 25 years at the Swedish Club in senior roles spanning underwriting, claims, and loss prevention, will take up his new post on 1 October, subject to regulatory approvals. His remit includes overseeing operations in the Greater China region.
“The opening of our Hong Kong office will further strengthen our solid position in Asia and facilitate our ambition to grow further,” said Mauro Iguera, CEO of Cambiaso Risso Group. Chairman Marco Risso added that the new office represents “a crucial base” for the company’s expansion in Greater China.
The move builds on Cambiaso Risso’s regional presence, which began with the launch of Cambiaso Risso Asia in Singapore 15 years ago. The firm opened an office in Indonesia in 2024 and has plans for the Philippines.
Cambiaso Risso currently services up to 11,000 vessels across 50 countries, with over US$1bn in premium volume and US$90m in net revenue from its various marine and shipping-related services.
Malm’s departure from the Swedish Club will see Julia Ju, currently head of claims at the Hong Kong branch, step in as chief executive and area manager for the P&I club.
