Gallagher Re’s Global Chairman, Paddy Jago, is set to retire at the end of 2026, concluding a 50-year career in the industry, the company announced in a press release.

Jago joined Gallagher Re following an extensive career that included senior positions at several major firms. Before his current role, he served as Global Chairman of Willis Re and previously as Chief Executive Officer of North America at Aon Limited, where he was responsible for Property and Casualty Reinsurance.

In 1990, Jago joined Nicholson Chamberlain Colls (NCC) to establish a North American treaty reinsurance division. Prior to that, he worked at C. T. Bowring from 1981 to 1989, including a year-long secondment to St. Paul Insurance Companies in 1983, later becoming Director of Bowring Reinsurance in 1987.

He began his career at Lloyd’s broker H.J. Symons in 1975 before joining Willis Faber and Dumas in 1976.

Speaking on the announcement, Gallagher Re CEO Tom Wakefield said: “Anyone who has had the privilege of working alongside Paddy knows how instrumental he has been to the success and growth of Gallagher Re. His leadership and dedication have left an indelible mark on our business, and he will be greatly missed.”
