Gallagher has named Sarah Lyons as the new CEO of its London-based Specialty division, effective 1 July 2025, pending regulatory approval. She succeeds Jonathan Turner, who is leaving the business.
Lyons currently serves as CEO of Gallagher’s Australia and Asia business and will maintain her Asia Pacific leadership responsibilities in addition to her new role. She will relocate to London and join the UK Executive Leadership team, reporting to Michael Rea, CEO of Gallagher’s UK Broking operations.
Lyons first joined Gallagher in 2014 through the acquisition of OAMPS and has held various senior roles within the company’s Australian operations, including Chief Operating Officer and CEO of Australia. In 2023, she expanded her CEO duties to include Asia.
“Sarah has been an integral part of Gallagher’s global broking leadership for more than a decade,” Rea said. “Since taking on the Australian CEO role in 2017, the business has significantly expanded in the country.”
Lyons commented on her new position, noting the development of Gallagher’s UK broking operations over the past decade and highlighting the key role the specialty business has played in that. “The team has ambitious plans for 2025 and beyond and I look forward to working with the divisional leadership of each specialist team and the wider talent within the overall Specialty business to achieve those goals,” she added.
Rea also thanked the outgoing Turner, commenting, “I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to Jonathan for his leadership of our Specialty business over the past five years and for all of his contributions to the overall UK business since he joined as Executive Chairman of our Pen Underwriting business in 2015.”
