• Generali moved from 22nd to 9th in Forbes’ 2024 list of the World’s Top Companies for Women, ranking 1st in Italy.
• The ranking is based on a survey of 100,000 women in 37 countries, assessing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
• Generali’s initiatives include the ‘Lioness Acceleration Programme’ and ‘Elevate’ for women’s leadership development.
• Women make up 51% of Generali’s workforce, with a goal to reach 40% in strategic roles and close the gender pay gap by 2024.

Generali has jumped from 22nd place in 2023 to 9th place globally in Forbes’ list of the World’s Top Companies for Women for 2024.  The insurer also ranked 1st in Italy.

This recognition follows a survey of approximately 100,000 women across 37 countries, which evaluates companies on their efforts to attract, retain, and advance female talent.

In a media release, Generali said the ranking reflects its efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Forbes and Statista, which conducted the survey, based their rankings on factors such as workplace practices, gender pay equity, opportunities for advancement, and the management of discrimination cases.

Generali has long been a leader in promoting diversity and inclusion. The company’s People Strategy, “GPeople24 – Ready for the Next,” aims to foster an environment of equity and upskilling while championing flexible and sustainable work models. Their key initiatives include the ‘Lioness Acceleration Programme’ and ‘Elevate’, which offer women managers with training, coaching, and leadership development opportunities.

At the organizational level, 51% of Generali’s current global workforce consists of women. With this, the company expressed its goal of increasing female representation in strategic positions to 40%.

In 2023, Generali also launched its first global Women & Allies network, a platform designed to advance gender equality and celebrate both women and their allies in the workplace.

Generali has also made efforts to close the gender pay gap, with a reduction to 0.9% reached by the end of 2023. With this, the Group has said that it aims to achieve equal pay by 2024.
