Price Forbes Singapore has appointed industry veteran Craig McCoig-Lees as head of casualty MGA, the latest in a series of senior appointments by the broker in Asia Pacific this year.

McCoig-Lees will report to Bruce Ford, chief commercial officer, reinsurance and wholesale, and will be responsible for expanding Price Forbes Re’s MGA offering, the company announced on July 21.

His remit includes supporting third-party MGAs with access to underwriting capacity, specialist expertise and strategic growth solutions.

McCoig-Lees joins from Howden Re, where he served as head of casualty MGA. He brings more than 30 years of insurance and reinsurance experience and has previously held senior positions at Lockton International and JLT Re. He has been based in Singapore for the past 13 years.

Ford said the company sees significant growth potential in the MGA segment and views the hire as an important step in building its regional capabilities.

“Craig brings a track record of building businesses and is well placed to help us achieve our goal of being the go-to broker for MGA business in the region, and I’m delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Commenting on his appointment, McCoig-Lees said: “The ambition of Price Forbes in the MGA space is crystal clear and that is what drew me to the role.”

The latest senior appointment comes amid Price Forbes’ wider buildout in Asia Pacific. In April, the company hired Rajiv Ramakrishnan to lead its accident & health portfolio. Earlier in the year, the broker launched a new treaty team with four senior hires, Bruce Ford, Goh Thian Leong, Mark Foster, and Florence Lam Puoy Yin, while also naming Dick Heath as head of reinsurance and wholesale, Singapore in January.
