Criterion Underwriting has appointed Craig Mauger as executive director for commercial distribution, the managing general agent (MGA) announced on Tuesday.

Based in Brisbane, the general insurance veteran joins Criterion after more than four years at QIB Group, most recently serving as chief commercial officer. Previously, he worked at Regional Insurance Brokers, QBE Insurance, Elders Insurance and National Transport Insurance.

Mauger has more than 35 years of experience in the Australian general insurance market, with a background in commercial leadership, industry relationships and distribution business growth.

“Craig will play a key role in taking that proposition to a broader market,” Criterion Underwriting said on LinkedIn.

The MGA said the appointment is part of its growth strategy as it expands its broker partnerships, broadens its market presence and continues developing its capabilities across underwriting, reinsurance, surety and structured risk solutions.
