Marsh Re has appointed Andrew Hare as chief executive officer for Japan, effective 1 January 2027 and subject to regulatory approval, the reinsurance broker said on Thursday.
He succeeds Jeremy Fox, who stays with the business as chairman for Asia Pacific.
Hare will report to Tony Gallagher, chief executive officer for Asia Pacific at Marsh Re, and will relocate to Tokyo from Singapore in mid-2027.
There, he will lead the reinsurance team in Japan, take overall responsibility for client management and set strategic initiatives to grow the business in the country.
He will also continue to serve as head of growth for Marsh Re in Asia Pacific, the role he took up when he joined the broker in May 2026.
Hare brings more than 20 years of (re)insurance experience, including 15 years in Asia Pacific. He spent 17 years at Aon, later as Asia head of its Aon Inpoint advisory arm. He then led Moody’s Insurance Solutions, formerly RMS, across Asia Pacific from 2022 to 2025. He joined Marsh from financial services technology provider FIS, where he was head of insurance for Asia Pacific.
“Japan is a vitally important market for our clients and Andrew is a leader of exceptional commercial judgement who understands the importance of long-term relationships,” Gallagher said. “He will build on the strong foundation established by Jeremy, whose continued role as Chairman will ensure a smooth transition for our clients.”
The appointment follows Guy Carpenter starting to operate globally as Marsh Re on 1 September as part of the group-wide switch to the Marsh brand.
