HDI Global (HDI) has appointed David Wilson as its global head of claims for energy and power, a newly created role, effective 1 March 2026, the business announced in a 11 March media release.

Wilson joins from Allianz, where he spent more than 10 years, most recently serving as global head of energy claims. Although operating in a global capacity, he is based in London, working across HDI’s energy and power unit. He reports to Roman Felten, the commercial and specialty insurer’s global head of claims

In his new role, Wilson will support claims activities across all hubs and the wider energy and power portfolio worldwide, helping to further connect global expertise with local execution.

His appointment builds directly on HDI’s recent energy & power leadership transition, in which Mark Mackay was appointed global head of energy and power late last month.

Commenting on the appointment, Felten said: “I am thrilled to welcome David to HDI. With him, we have been able to attract an international renowned claims expert in the field of energy and power for our ambition to provide excellent claims service to our clients around the globe. This new global role reinforces our focus on seamless collaboration across hubs and functions.”

“David’s appointment strengthens our energy and power proposition across the value chain and supports our teams in delivering expert, responsive service worldwide,” Mackay added.

Wilson’s move also follows Yasuyuki Harada’s promotion to HDI Global’s general manager for distribution and marketing announced at the beginning of the month.
