HDI Global (HDI) has appointed Mark Mackay as global head of energy and power, succeeding Franz Adamczyk, effective 1 March, the business announced in a media release on Wednesday.

Mackay joined HDI in 2019 and was most recently the head of energy for the Eastern Region (Middle East and Asia-Pacific). He brings over 15 years of international insurance experience, including roles at AXA XL and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (now Allianz Commercial).

With Mackay stepping up to lead the global team, Haris Michaels will take over leadership of the eastern region portfolio in Singapore, also effective 1 March, HDI Global announced separately.

“Mark Mackay combines deep technical expertise with a strong international perspective and a proven track record of building sustainable, client-focused growth in energy and power projects,” Dirk Höring, member of the HDI Global SE executive board, commented on the transition. “At the same time, I want to express my profound appreciation to Franz Adamczyk. Over many decades, Franz has shaped not just our portfolio, but also our way of working: with exceptional dedication, market insight, and an unwavering commitment to our clients and teams.”

Adamczyk will step back from his global role but will remain with HDI Global as a senior advisor supporting the energy and power segment. He has been with HDI since 1981.

Mackay’s promotion comes after HDI Global unveiled Xcelerate29, its 2026–2029 strategy, last week, which includes targeted growth in Asia-Pacific and specialty lines.
