HDI Global has announced that Uwe Jürgen Sievers will step down as Managing Director of its Japan branch on 31 July 2025, following a mutual agreement and at his own request due to personal reasons. Casey Sandler will assume interim leadership of the branch, effective August 1, 2025.

Sievers has led the Japanese operations for nearly three decades, overseeing a period of consistent growth and stable contributions to HDI Global’s international results.

“I would like to thank Uwe for his great commitment to HDI Global. With his expertise and leadership, he has been essential for the very successful development of the Japanese branch. I wish him all the best for his future,” said David Hullin, HDI Global board member responsible for international markets.

Sandler, who joined HDI Global Japan in 2015, has held various leadership roles within the organisation, most recently serving as General Manager, Market Management. Prior to joining the insurer, he worked for the Foreign Non-Life Insurance Association of Japan.

Hullin expressed confidence in his appointment, noting: “I am delighted that Casey takes over the temporary management of the Japanese branch. Together with our experienced team in Japan, he will continue to find tailor-made solutions for clients and be a reliable partner for the Japanese industry. I wish him every success in this new role.”

Sandler’s appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
