Liberty, part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has named Jimmy Tong as chief executive officer for Singapore, effective 27 April 2026, subject to regulatory approval, the business announced in a press release on Friday.

Liberty Mutual previously operated two separate businesses in Singapore: Liberty Insurance and Liberty Specialty Markets. Effective 1 January 2026, it brought both operations under a single insurance licence, and the combined Singapore business will soon trade under the Liberty brand.

Following the unification, former chief executive of Liberty Insurance Yasar Fistikci has taken the new role of chief product officer for Singapore. Nicole Lim, the current CEO of Liberty Specialty Markets, will leave the company at the end of April.

Tong has spent the past 10 years leading and overseeing Great Eastern’s general and group insurance for Singapore, and spent the 15 years prior in leadership roles at UOB. In his new role, he will report to Matthew Jackson, president of Asia-Pacific.

“In Asia-Pacific, our goal this year is to operate as one Liberty in each market – creating a simpler, stronger organisation for our customers and partners. The completion of the Singapore company transfer, together with securing Jimmy to lead the business, represents a strong start to the year,” Jackson said.
