Manulife has appointed Bonnie Qiu as CEO, Global High-Net-Worth (GHNW) and Chief Partnership Distribution Officer, Asia, effective 1 December, the insurer announced in a press release on 25 November.

Hong Kong-based Qiu joined Manulife in 2024 as Chief Distribution Officer for Asia—a role she will continue to hold—and brings more than 23 years of experience, including a previous tenure at HSBC. She succeeds Jean Wong, who will retire in Q2 2026.

In her expanded role, Qiu will lead the strategic direction of the GHNW business while continuing to oversee partnership distribution channels, including bancassurance, international brokerage, and digital platforms.

Concurrently, Manulife announced that Rishi Srivastava, Chief Agency Officer for Asia and also based in Hong Kong, will join the business’s Asia senior leadership team, effective immediately.

Srivastava has been with the company since 2024 and brings over 25 years of industry experience, having previously held senior roles at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, AXA Financial Indonesia, Tata AIA Life Insurance in India, and AIA in Hong Kong.

Both Qiu and Srivastava will report to Steve Finch, President and CEO of Manulife Asia.

“Bonnie’s expanded role reflects Manulife’s ambition as we prepare for the next chapter of our GHNW business through more diversified and integrated distribution channels, coupled with an expanding regional footprint,” Finch said. “Rishi’s appointment to the senior leadership team reinforces the critical role of our data-driven, professional agency force in driving accelerated growth.”

With the new appointments, Finch said that the firm “is well-positioned to accelerate its strategic priorities and reinforce its leadership across the region.”

The business also paid tribute to the retiring Wong “for her exceptional leadership and contributions throughout her tenure,” which included the formation of the GHNW division in 2023 and leading Manulife’s successful entry into the Middle East market.
