Malaysian reinsurance and takaful group MNRB Holdings has appointed Dato’ Sulaiman Mohd Tahir as its new Non-Independent and Non-Executive Chairman, effective 14 February 2025, the company said in an announcement. Dato’ Sulaiman will also assume the role of Non-Independent and Non-Executive Chairman of Malaysian Re on the same date.
He succeeds Datuk Johar Che Mat, who resigned on 12 February 2025 and will continue to serve as Chairman of the group’s subsidiaries, Takaful Ikhlas Family Berhad and Takaful Ikhlas General Berhad.
Dato’ Sulaiman has over 30 years of experience in Malaysia’s financial sector and his previous positions include Chairman of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad and Group Chief Executive Officer of AMBANK Group.
“Dato’ Sulaiman’s appointment ensures a smooth transition of leadership and reinforces MNRB’s focus on delivering long-term value to its stakeholders,” MNRB said in its announcement.
The group also expressed its gratitude to Datuk Johar, stating, “MNRB extends its heartfelt appreciation to Datuk Johar for his dedicated service and invaluable contributions to MNRB over the past seven years.”
MNRB Holdings Berhad is a Malaysian company that provides reinsurance, retakaful, and takaful services, operating through subsidiaries Malaysian Reinsurance, Takaful Ikhlas Family, and Takaful Ikhlas General.
