Sedgwick announced on Tuesday (July 30) that it had introduced a suite of loss adjusting and claims management solutions to help address the needs of the energy and natural resources sector in Asia Pacific.

The team is led by Nigel Cook, CEO of Sedgwick Singapore and Head of Major and Complex Loss for Asia. To support the expansion, the global loss adjuster has recruited Neil Best as Director, Energy, and Liew Boon Tat as Executive Energy Adjuster, Major and Complex Loss.

“The specialist team will focus on handling claims and supporting emerging trends in the region’s traditional energy mix and the region’s pivot to renewable and other sustainable energy sources, such as thermal and renewable power, along with hydrogen, floating solar and wind turbines,” Sedgwick said in its announcement.

Services will also extend to traditional power plants, infrastructure, and construction service providers in the energy and power sectors, the loss adjuster added.

“At Sedgwick, we have the necessary expertise to help clients manage and resolve challenging claims in the complicated natural resources arena,” said Veronica Grigg, CEO of Sedgwick in Asia.

“With the addition of our new specialists, we have a wealth of expert resources who can see all claims through from start to conclusion.”

Best brings experience managing construction and operational losses to floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs) and their related subsea architecture to his new role.

He has handled marine in-water seismic equipment losses and claims within the renewable energy space in Myanmar, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Vietnam. He has also managed onshore solar wind farm files and near-shore wind turbine generator claims to inter-array cables in Vietnam, Sedgwick said.

Boon Tat’s loss adjusting experience has seen him manage diverse claims, including property damage, machinery, alternative energy, mining, marine, contractors’ all risks/engineering all risks, liability, and catastrophic (CAT) claims.

His expertise spans insurance assessment and valuation, operational losses, insurance claims, risk management, and third-party liability claims.

“Amid the expansion of clean energy and natural resources industries in Asia, this is a pivotal time for us to offer our resources to clients and invest in long-time partnerships in the region,” said Cook.

“Sedgwick’s experts thoroughly understand the complexity of this evolving space; Liew and Neil are well suited to lead our efforts,” he added.
