American International Group has appointed Scott Leney as regional president for Asia-Pacific, starting on 1 February 2026, subject to regulatory approval.

Leney joins after a two-year stint with Everest Insurance, where he served as head of APAC. Prior to that, he spent over 25 years at Marsh McLennan in senior leadership roles, including head of risk management for Marsh Asia & Pacific, chief executive of Marsh Australia, and chief executive of Marsh Pacific.

In his new role, Leney will be overseeing AIG’s general insurance businesses across the APAC region. He will also be part of its International Commercial Insurance leadership team.

Leney will succeed outgoing regional head Chris Colahan, who is set join Chubb as head of commercial property and casualty for Asia-Pacific in February 2026.

Jon Hancock, chief executive officer of general insurance at AIG, welcomed Leney, saying, “His deep understanding of the opportunities across the region will be invaluable as we continue to grow our share in the marketplace.

Commenting on his appointment, Leney said, “This role is a tremendous opportunity to further strengthen AIG’s position in key markets across the region,” adding that he is looking forward to working with Hancock and AIG’s APAC Team “to drive the business forward.”

The appointment follows other recent key leadership announcements by AIG in the region, including Jenny Boyd’s expanded role as head of client and broker engagement, APAC, and the promotion of Naoko Masu to head of multinational in Japan.

It also follows news of John Neal’s withdrawal from the role of AIG president in November.
