Howden Re has expanded its catastrophe analytics team in Asia with the appointments of Renuka Janwalkar and Ramdeo Gupta from Gallagher Re. Janwalkar has joined as head of catastrophe analytics for Asia, while Gupta will come on board next month as senior catastrophe analyst for the region.

Janwalkar brings over 16 years’ experience in catastrophe modelling and risk quantification, including internal model validation and model governance. At Gallagher Re, she served as assistant manager in catastrophe risk analytics, and her previous experience includes time at Willis Re.

Gupta brings more than 14 years of experience in catastrophe analytics and, prior to joining Gallagher, also worked at Willis Re. His background spans Asia-focused modelling support, reinsurance placement analytics and automation work to improve modelling efficiency.

“Against the backdrop of increased climate volatility across the region, clients are increasingly seeking analytics that combine global insight with local knowledge to support informed decision-making in an elevated risk environment,”Andy Souter, Head of Asia Pacific, Howden Re International, said. “I am pleased to welcome Renuka and Ramdeo to the team as we continue to strengthen Howden Re’s regional analytics capabilities, alongside those of our global team, and support our clients through this evolving landscape.”

The appointments form part of Howden Re’s broader build-out of analytics across Asia, including investments over the past year in Hong Kong and Taiwan, with Emily Lo and Karl Marshall continuing to lead the regional expansion.

It also follows another recent senior leadership change at the company, with Howden Re promoting Eva Li to GM for facultative reinsurance, China, earler this month.
