Howden Australia has appointed Mervyn Rea to be its Head of Risk Engineering, the business announced on LinkedIn on Monday, 18 August.
Rea boasts nearly four decades of experience at Zurich Insurance, where he most recently served as Head of Risk Engineering for the Asia Pacific region based in Melbourne. He has built expertise across general manufacturing, food and beverage, road & rail transport and logistics, and above-ground and underground hard rock mining.
“His career spans senior leadership roles in the insurance sector, and his customer engagement has resulted in positive impact in helping them mitigate, avoid and manage risk across property & assets, liability, safety and motor fleet,” Howden stated in its post.
Commenting on the appointment, Rea expressed his excitement to work with Howden’s Australia and New Zealand teams. “I am excited about bringing a unique brand of risk engineering expertise across multiple industry sectors, and building a premier risk consultancy and advocacy service,” he said.
Just last week, 12 August, Howden appointed Capt. Hari Subramaniam to be its Chief Commercial Officer for Marine, Cargo, and Logistics for Asia. Raymond Law also took the helm as Howden’s Sales Director, based in Hong Kong, on 4 August.
