Howden has tapped Capt. Hari Subramaniam to be its Chief Commercial Officer for Marine, Cargo, and Logistics for Asia, the business announced on Monday, 11 August.

Subramaniam is a seasoned maritime professional, bringing 35 years of experience from corporate shipping and offshore and commercial cargo insurance.

He was the Regional Head of The Shipowners’ Club for 16 years, where he led the loss prevention and global inspection programme, enhancing vessel and corporate risk management as well as providing seafarer support.

In his new role, he is responsible for strengthening Howden’s marine insurance retail foundations across Asia.

Concurrently, Subramaniam serves as Deputy Chairman of Maritime and Port Authority at Singapore’s National Maritime Safety At Sea Council and a council member of The Nautical Institute in the United Kingdom.

Commenting on the appointment, Daniel Whiteside, Howden’s Global Practice Leader for Marine, Cargo, and Logistics, welcomed Capt. Subramaniam to the group’s growing regional retail team.

“We have now set up marine retail foundations across Hong Kong and Singapore with experienced insurance practitioners who operate as one team, effectively servicing clients wherever they sit within Asia, and beyond, as they work with our teams around the world,” Whiteside added.

Over the last two months, Howden made a number of key appointments within the region: Lee Vanderson as Head of Specialty for the Philippines, Edmund Arghan as Head of Credit, Political Risk & Surety for Asia, Raymond Law as Sales Director for Hong Kong, and Hamish Ravindran as Chief Client Officer for Asia.

Stay ahead on the region’s key appointments.
