MSIG has signed a three-year partnership with the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) to support long-term football development in the city-state, the insurer and sports body jointly announced in a joint media release on Tuesday.
The deal will focus on youth pathways while also supporting the Men’s and Women’s National Teams and the Singapore Premier League, according to MSIG.
Central to the partnership is the insurer’s role as a key sponsor of the National Age Group Teams, aimed at nurturing young players and strengthening development pipelines.
MSIG Asia chief executive officer Clemens Philippi said the firm shares the association’s ambition to revive national passion for football and return teams to past international successes.
“We firmly believe that investing in young people today is one of the most meaningful ways to build a strong and sustainable future,” Philippi added. “Sport plays a powerful role in shaping character by instilling resilience, discipline and teamwork during the crucial formative years.”
The insurer noted that its investment builds on an existing ecosystem that includes more than 500 certified grassroots coaches and structured programmes across schools, academies, and community initiatives.
For FAS general secretary Badri Ghent, MSIG’s support will help expand development pathways and create more opportunities for players.
“Their support allows us to continue strengthening our development pathways, invest in our youth, and create more opportunities for players to grow within the system,” he said. “Raising the standard of football in Singapore will require a collective effort, and partnerships like this are an important step in the right direction.“
MSIG’s backing will also extend to the senior men’s team following its qualification for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 in Saudi Arabia.
The partnership will support preparations for the tournament while boosting fan engagement through branding, events, and exclusive experiences. These initiatives include meet-and-greet sessions, football clinics, and matchday activations for customers and employees.
Both MSIG and FAS emphasised the collaboration’s aim to foster a more inclusive football culture and encourage wider participation across Singapore. FAS expressed hopes that the partnership will attract further corporate support to sustain the sport’s long-term growth.
