SEADRIF Insurance Company has appointed actuary Lisa Yu as its head of product, the organisation announced on LinkedIn.
Yu joins SEADRIF from the United Nations World Food Programme, where she was an insurance officer. A UK-qualified actuary with more than 15 years of experience, she has worked in general insurance and reinsurance pricing and risk analysis across actuarial consultancies, large insurers and multiple Lloyd’s syndicates.
In her role at SEADRIF, Yu will be responsible for product strategy and development linked to disaster risk financing solutions across Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
Reflecting on her appointment, Yu said she is “driven by the challenge of designing insurance solutions that truly meet the needs of vulnerable communities, rather than simply continuing or replicating traditional insurance models”.
Her role is only the latest in a series of appointments at SEADRIF this month, which include Ayumi Kato who will support donor engagement, Gillian Caparas as operations specialist, and Mei Fern Johnson and Dr. Leow Yung Khee to its board of directors.
