Liberty Specialty Markets has appointed Edrick Tang as senior underwriter, fine art and specie for Asia Pacific, effective immediately, the business announced in a media release on Monday.

Based in Singapore, Tang joins after a year and a half with Berkley Insurance Asia, and brings 15 years of total industry experience, including time at Talbot Risk Services, AXA XL, and ACE Group.

In his new role, Tang will oversee underwriting performance for the product line and lead the execution of the product’s growth strategy across Asia, supporting Liberty’s plan to expand in the region and respond to client demand for specialised coverage.

He reports to Dipam Pandit, head of broker distribution, Asia, and head of war and terrorism for Asia-Pacific.

“We are thrilled to welcome Edrick to his new role and look forward to the opportunities his extensive experience and expertise will bring to this business,” Pandit said. “Under his leadership, we are confident the fine art and specie team will continue to grow and offer vital products and coverage to our clients in Asia.”

Liberty noted that Tang’s appointment brings the company’s total of dedicated fine art and specie underwriters close to 40, with nine global fine art and specie offices.

“Fine art and specie is a key area of growth for Liberty, particularly in the Asian market, which is developing rapidly,” the insurer said. “There is a notable increased appetite from brokers and assureds, which Liberty is responding to by establishing a footprint in the region.”
