The Insurance Council of New Zealand (ICNZ) has announced the appointment of Amanda Whiting, Chief Executive of IAG New Zealand, as its new President, with Adam Heath, Chief Executive of Farmers Mutual Group (FMG), stepping into the role of Vice-President.

Whiting, who has led IAG New Zealand since July 2021 and also serves on the board of the Sustainable Business Council NZ, takes over from Toni Ferrier, who has moved on to become the country manager for Marsh McLennan—who is not a member of the ICNZ.

“I feel honoured to have the confidence of my fellow Board members to take up this leadership role for general insurers and look forward to working with Adam to ensure New Zealanders continue to enjoy the strong protection our sector provides,” said Whiting regarding her new position.

Whiting also expressed gratitude to her predecessor, stating, “I want to acknowledge the valuable contribution Toni Ferrier made during her term as President and wish her success in her new role.”
