The 20th edition of the Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC) is set to take place from 4 to 7 November 2024, bringing together key figures from the global reinsurance industry.
Organised by the Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA), this year’s event will be hosted at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, with a central theme of “Revolutionize (Re)insurance.”
Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, who is also the Minister for Trade and Industry and Chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), has been invited as the guest of honour and will deliver a keynote address highlighting Singapore’s pivotal role in the global reinsurance landscape.
“We are privileged to have Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong grace SIRC 2024,” said Marc Haushofer, Chair of the SRA. “His presence represents the significant role of reinsurance in Singapore’s economic landscape and underscores the strong relationship the industry enjoys with the MAS.”
Among the sessions will be a one-on-one conversation with Andreas Berger, CEO of Swiss Re Group. This will be Berger’s first appearance at SIRC as CEO. His session will address pressing issues such as climate change, technological innovation, and talent management.
The event will also feature a series of high-level panel discussions. On day two, the panel “Mastering a Sustainable Future in Turbulent Times: A View from the Top” will explore strategies to maintain agility in an increasingly complex reinsurance landscape. Esteemed speakers include Matthew Carletti of Citizens JMP, Dawn Miller of Lloyd’s Americas, and Achim Kassow of Munich Re. The session will be moderated by Clemens Philippi, CEO of MSIG Asia.
The fight for talent will also be a significant focus, with a dedicated panel discussing how the reinsurance sector can attract and retain professionals in a competitive market. Panellists include figures such as Wong Sze Keed of AIA Singapore and Valerie Badcock of Guy Carpenter in a session which will examine how the industry can reposition itself to appeal to the next generation of professionals while promoting diversity and inclusion.
On Day Three, panels will focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and data management, particularly on their impact in Asia.
“With the strong line-up of panels and a dynamic meeting agenda fostering robust debate, we are excited to bring the global industry together for yet another year to shape the future of the reinsurance industry,” Haushofer said.
Jeslyn Tan, Executive Director of the SRA, added, “This conference expresses the industry’s urgent need to evolve and address diverse economic and environmental challenges, paving the way ahead for all stakeholders.”
