MLC Life Insurance has appointed Melissa Ammon as Chief Risk Officer, the company announced in a statement.
Ammon joined MLC Life Insurance in 2023, initially serving as General Manager – Risk. She had served as acting Chief Risk Officer since September 2024, succeeding Jane McGovern, who had been appointed Chief Customer and Strategy Officer.
As part of her appointment, Ammon will oversee the company’s Risk function, which includes the Risk, Compliance, Governance, and Legal teams.
She brings more than 25 years of experience in insurance, financial planning, superannuation, and asset management. Before MLC Life Insurance, Ammon held key leadership roles in risk, compliance, and business transformation at iCare NSW and Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Kent Griffin, CEO and Managing Director of MLC Life Insurance, congratulated Ammon on her appointment, commending her early contributions to the company.
“Since joining MLC Life Insurance, Melissa has driven a positive uplift in our risk capability. She has also done a fantastic job leading our Risk, Compliance, Governance, and Legal function during what has become a time of significant change for our business,” he added.
Ammon’s appointment comes as MLC Life Insurance nears the completion of its merger with Resolution Life Australasia to form Acenda, set to be finalised by H2 2025. The merger will establish Acenda as one of the largest life insurers in the region, with combined assets exceeding A$100bn.
