Maria Noemi Azura has been named as the new President and CEO of Generali Life Assurance in the Philippines, the business announced on Tuesday.
She will replace Dr. Hak Hong Soo, who was Generali’s President and CEO from August 2023.
Azura’s appointment follows the completion of InLife’s acquisition of Generali on 23 May. As CEO, she will lead the transition of Generali as a separate subsidiary of the Filipino-owned Insular Life (InLife). She will also spearhead the strategic focus of InLife and Generali on group insurance and health services.
Bringing nearly four decades of experience in the insurance and banking industries, Azura previously held senior and leadership positions in Insular Health Care, InLife Assurance, PhilCare, and ANZ. She most recently served as InLife’s Corporate Solutions Head.
According to InLife Chairperson Nina Aguas, “Generali will continue to operate as a separate subsidiary of InLife but will align under a unified strategy.” She later added that Azura’s appointment “reinforces our strategy to expand our presence in group insurance and health services, backed by the combined strength of InLife and Generali.”
