Pacific Life has designated Dion Russell as managing vice president, business services, protection, the company announced on LinkedIn on Monday.

Russell joins from SCOR, where he held various senior and executive roles in his 10 years with the company, most recently as head of the Asia-Pacific regional life and health business.

Russell will report to Elaine Murphy, senior vice president, chief actuary, and chief pricing officer, in his new role. He will also become a member of the reinsurer’s global protection and divisional business services executive committees.

He brings more than 25 years of life insurance industry experience, with deep expertise across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, having worked across primary insurance, consulting, and reinsurance. He is also a qualified actuary, with extensive experience spanning business development, portfolio management, strategy, operations, and governance.

Russell’s move follows Jane Cheng’s appointment as vice president, client solutions, protection, for the reinsurer last month and Jia Yi Tan’s appointment as global chief underwriting and claims officer in January, succeeding Andrew Doran, who was promoted to CEO of UnderwriteMe, Pacific Life Re’s insurtech subsidiary, in 2025.
