Pacific Life Re on Thursday announced it has appointed Singapore-based Jia Yi Tan as its new global chief underwriting and claims officer. She succeeds Andrew Doran, who was promoted to CEO of UnderwriteMe, Pacific Life Re’s insurtech subsidiary, last year.

Tan has nearly 20 years of experience in the insurance industry across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas. She joins the reinsurer from iptiQ, formerly a brand of Swiss Re, and has relocated to Singapore from the UK to take up the new role.

“Jia’s skillset is well-positioned to take advantage of the opportunities this affords, enabling us to further leverage our differentiators to add value to our insurance partners,” Andrew Gill, executive vice president of global protection at Pacific Life Re, said.

Tan’s appointment follows another key appointment in the region in December 2025, when Soichiro Makimoto was named head of the Japan Representative Office by the reinsurer.
