QBE has promoted Ed Rainsford to Chief Risk Officer for the Australia Pacific region, the company announced in a statement on LinkedIn.

He succeeds Jonathan Groves, who last week was named as CEO and MD for New Zealand and Pacific, with Declan Moore concurrently transitioning to Chief Governance and Executive operations.

Rainsford has been QBE for a decade, serving in senior roles across Sydney and New York, and has been elevated from his role as Group Chief Compliance Officer. “We are delighted to support ongoing career progression within our business,” QBE said in its announcement.

Before his time as Group Chief Compliance Officer, Rainsford has held a variety of senior roles within QBE Group, including Chief of Staff; Head of M&A, Group Legal; and VP for Transactional Liability at QBE North America. Prior to joining QBE, Rainsford practised Law at Corrs Chambers Westgarth in Australia and Bird & Bird in the United Kingdom.
